Come on cells!!!  Last Wednesday morning was Lexe's last dose of round 1 chemo.  We have been told that it will take 10-14 days for Lexe to start producing new blood cells.  The wait is on.  Lexe continues to be in great spirits.

Hey everyone it's Lexe. I thought it was about time that I posted. First, I want to thank everyone for their prayers and support! I truly feel so loved and its helped me stay healthy this past week. I've been in the hospital for 2 weeks and 4 days now. Thanks to all my wonderful visitors I've never been bored. Now that I'm not being hooked to Ivan, my IV pole, all day it's harder to sit still in my room. Luckily the doctors have started to let me walk around the hospital after 9 P.M. It's hard to wait all day but you take what you can get. It's hard to believe that I'm sick when I feel so good! I don't think people would believe I was sick if I hadn't have cut my hair. Unfortunately I'm starting to lose it and I haven't quite figured out how I feel about that yet. My bed looks like a dog shed all over it but nope, it's just my hair. Right now is a good time because I'm just waiting for my counts to go up. Not too much action going on except sleeping, eating, and sitting around. My nurses comment on how I sleep in but I'm a teenager so I think it should be expected. Well, I think that about wraps things up. Thanks again to everyone for their support! I couldn't do this without you guys:)

  3. Hey Lexe,
This is Marilyn Bodily who came to see you last week with the hats. I just want you to know how much you are loved. You are in our prayers and I know you can kick this. I love this quote. I never said it would be easy, I only said it will be worth it. This was my daughter Jill's favorite when she went through her eating disorder 10 years ago.

    Love, Ya

  4. Lexe and Laurie,

I am a stranger to you! I spoke with Laurie in the hospital parking garage last week after our Benjamin's chemotherapy treatment. I read the article in the Deseret News by Doug Robinson and was touched by your story. I have thought a lot about you since then and our family is praying for your recovery, Lexe! What a great mom you have! It was a special moment to meet your mom that day in the parking lot! I wanted to come and meet you in your room, but I had Benjamin with me, who is two and doesn't sit still for very long (especially while he is on steroids!!!)

Many of us with life-threatening diseases, particularly cancer, really bond because we know how hard life can be at times with doctors, hospitals, chemotherapy, low blood counts, and such!

Anyway, we are praying for you! Hang in there! I really believe that these times can make us stronger people in this life. We have enjoyed so many blessings, believe it or not, because of Benjamin's disease, that we wouldn't have received otherwise. One of those blessings being the great people we have met like yourselves!

If you are interested, my blog for Benjamin is at www.benjaminsbumps.blogspot.com

Prayers and hugs for you all!

  5. Hi Lexe!

Just want you to know that we love you and your family and are praying like crazy for you. We know you're strong and will kick this darn cancer. It's fun imagining you kicking your soccer ball around your room. Maybe you'll be able to teach a soccer clinic to the little kids there!

We miss you at church and look forward to seeing your cute face again soon.

    Love,

    Gerrí and Kevin Taylor
